The Big Bite stocks an array of professional fishing equipment. The type of equipment used will be chosen according to the targeted species of fish and the skill level of the angler. Light spinning tackle and conventional reels are used for Sailfish, Mahi Mahi, Blackfin Tuna and bottom fish such as Yellow Tail Snapper and Grouper. The Big Bite also stocks “50” and “80” class equipment for the big fish such as Marlin and Swordfish.
The Big-Bite Fishing Charter uses only custom built Star Rods as conventional tackle, with Penn and Shimano reels. The two highest priorities on the Big-Bite are your safety and the maintenance of our equipment. All line is changed for new with any signs of wear.
Big-Bite Fishing Charter is very proud of our electric reel for fishing in water over 1500 ft off the continental shelf. We also have the latest electronics that allow us the ability to see to depths reaching 2000 feet (great for Swordfish). Big-Bite is set up for kite fishing in the fall, winter and spring when the fishing is great for Sailfish, King Mackerel, and Blackfin Tuna. This creates an exciting top water bite for the angler. We also like to use Down planners to catch Wahoo and Blackfin Tuna seasonally. Mahi Season is year round, and this crew knows where to find them.
